You could almost read the pain on Berrick Barnes face as he kicked and kicked and kicked. It then dawned on me that he must have felt that by following this brain dead strategy he was kicking his Wallaby chance away. Then there is Rob Horne, one of the... Full Article at The Roar
Reds' Quade Cooper runs the ball in his Super Rugby return (AAP Image/Dave Hunt) At halftime in the Stormers – Waratahs match at Cape Town, admittedly in the wet, one of the commentators remarked that Berrick Barnes had created a ‘world record in... Full Article at The Roar

We didn't fire too well against the Chiefs, I thought we were pretty poor there and Brendan and I had to go away and look at our games there
The Stormers scored two tries in the first half and, with dominance in possession and territory, seemed to have set up a comfortable victory over the Australians. But the Stormers lost their structures after the break as the boot of Waratahs flyhalf... Full Article at Reuters Africa
In the opening minutes, there was a succession of kicks from both sides and a reluctance to run the ball from anywhere within their own half. The ploy did not bring any reward as the kicks were always too deep and did not pose problems inside the... Full Article at Sky Sports
Stormers scored two tries to one and closed out the game down the stretch as the visitors tried manfully to reel them in. NSW halfback Brendan McKibbin missed with a penalty from just inside his own half, but nailed another from closer range to open the... Full Article at Ninemsn

Most observers, for example, would spend little time on the question of who has kicked more often this season: the Daniel Halangahu/Berrick Barnes option at No.10 or the free-wheeling Danny Cipriani/James O'Connor? The obvious conclusion is the Waratahs' five-eighths. And it is also the incorrect one.
"It is very unlikely to be a totally Reds and Force-based side. It is a Test match. I guess if we learned something out of Samoa it is that no one can play three games in a week. "It's a moving target. It's not dissimilar to Samoa, and we don't want to... Full Article at Fox Sports Australia
Meanwhile, Wallabies coach Robbie Deans is also monitoring the progress of James O'Connor, who ">suffered a lacerated kidney following a collision with the Waratahs' Berrick Barnes in April. O'Connor will have scans next week which will determine... Full Article at Scrum.com
It’s worth mulling on that for a minute: Sarel Pretorius has started five times, Brendan McKibbin has started six times, and neither has been able to make the starting jersey their own in 2012. And when you add that variable to what’s (supposed to be)... Full Article at The Roar

People would have said last year or been whingeing it was the weaker conference because a couple of teams were way out in front, and that gave them an unfair opportunity
If the forwards can continue the way they're playing, it makes it a lot easier for the backs. Berrick Barnes is at second five-eighth and he's got different attributes to Tom Carter that we've got to be aware of. He's a very talented player, a very good punter of the ball and we'll have to be on our met...
We made it bloody hard for ourselves, we probably should have closed it out better than we did, but that's life ... The Force came back, they're a hard team to play at home. They're a team full of fighters, so it makes getting a win over there something to be happy about.
The teams are that close across the board, each game is genuinely a toss-up in a lot of ways, and we have to keep fronting up each week with the same attitude as we did against the Force
We'd like to hold the ball and execute a little bit better and that's what we'll be looking to work on over the next week or so
They will be fired up to try and get into us, that's for sure
We didn't get a lot of opportunities, we had to do a lot of defending and that's sometimes what happens in the backline, you just can't do much about it
They've got a lot of threats out there now, it's something that that they probably didn't have in the years gone by
They (the Highlanders) have been one of the best teams in the comp, probably the form team at the breakdown, and that's what's been the key cornerstone of their success ... So if we don't front up there, we stand no chance, so that's a key area for us.
You know your role. I'm not trying to be at 10, I'm trying to play at 12, and do the things that are required of me there and help Hangers (Halangahu) out where I can
We've got three guys who can play 10, 12, 15 in the team, which helps the ball playing and gives us a bit of flexibility
In the past, the Highlanders have been able to slow it down and played a forward-oriented game
They've also got a good side, and are probably the form team of the competition. They are extremely physical at the breakdown, and have more back threats this year, which makes them lot more of a dangerous proposition.
This ground will be even more of a cauldron [than Carisbrook], because at least the fans will want to turn up there, because they're not getting rained on every second game
It feels good, I got through training today
James is a hard bloke to contain and so it's important that when defending you don't come one out against him
It's frustrating really, I didn't think it was going to be an issue this week but after running yesterday and being put through a bit of a fitness test it hasn't pulled up as good as myself and the medical staff, more importantly, wanted
Defensively ... if you don't come one out against him it eliminates his ability to use footwork on people and get offloads away which he craves
It's frustrating really ... I didn't think it was going to be an issue this week but after running yesterday (Monday) and being put through a bit of a fitness test it just hasn't pulled up as well as myself and the medical staff more importantly wanted

Berrick Barnes and Wales: Australia manufactured tries by centre Berrick Barnes and number eight Ben McCalman, while Barnes also dropped a goal and wing James O'Connor kicked eight points.
Berrick Barnes and Australia: He was far more successful than Cooper and Australia may well have to bring Barnes back into the starting midfield.
