I was definitely too young to remember the Gretzky trade ... but just guys like (the Anaheim Ducks') Bobby Ryan and Hollweg, guys like that, really good players that have played in the NHL and the AHL, I'm looking at following in their footsteps.
1 he had eight points the rest of the season. Smith finished with 36 points in 72 games Its going to be huge if I come in next year and clear some issues up and stay on track for 82 games, Smith said. Thats where the world championships came in. Playing... Full Article at The Tennessean

We should have been a playoff team this year ... It really was a month and a half skid where nothing went right. You go .500 in that stretch and it's a completely different season. We're not having this conversation right now. There's some guys here, myself included, that are going to take some heat for...
With Phil Kessel, I just refer to Teemu Selanne, I refer to Bobby Ryan, I refer to Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry — the MVP of the league last year. Those players all have a special sense and a special skill-set that separates them from other players
Bitter is probably the best way to put it.
and the other two guys are the guys you count on to score. So we're not going to win if those guys aren't our best Perry and Bobby Ryan had Anaheim's other two goals, but they were happiest for Getzlaf. He's been holding the stick a little tight because the pucks haven't been going for him
Obviously we fell short of the goal
Imagine sending a couple of picks and a player to Anaheim for Bobby Ryan or Los Angeles for Dustin Brown!
We had such a good run down that stretch last year, there was almost a sense of things are just going to come for us and they didn’t
Maybe the last call was legitimate, but I thought the other two were completely fabricated ... The first one, the guy that I hit told me I didn’t even connect with him.
To a degree, I guess ... We know our record against them going back to the playoffs. We know they're a good team and they've beat us handily a few times. Seeing them four times a year, you've gotta wash it away at some point and just get past it.
Maybe the last call was legitimate
Oh, it's been horrendous from an inconsistent standpoint ... You almost don't know what you get. You've got to wave a white towel almost. It's upsetting. It is what it is.
They're a team that's built for the playoffs ... They play a full 60 minutes, they've got a great back end, and they've got three lines that can hurt you. That top line with (Martin) Erat, Fisher and (Andrei) Kostitsyn moves the puck well and they're highly effective throughout the ice. So they're a tea...
He's got to be exhausted, but he still keeps coming in and getting a little bit better every day ... Even on days when he's not taking all the shots, he's working on something. He's been a rock back there for us. He has carried this team to a lot of wins since Jan. 1.
They play extremely aggressive in their building ... They take fast, short shifts and come at you in waves. When they play like that, they're intimidating to play against. Teams like that get on a roll, start feeling good about themselves, with the amount of skill they have, they're going to be dangerou...
They are all must-wins ... They’ve all been must-wins since January 1. That mindset doesn’t change for us. We’ll prepare for St. Louis. At this point in the season, every two points is a must-have.
Like the whole team, I gave away a month and a half ... I just tried to stay consistent with something through it all. The goal scoring has come and gone. I think it'll be characterized as a down year and I'll probably feel that way myself when all is said and done.
I don't think I look for it by any means ... A lot of things have just developed that way for me throughout my career here. It's certainly fun and exciting to be a part of, all the fallout and repercussions of getting to see them when the year's done and people talking about them. Definitely not looking...
I came in behind the play because it was a weird change ... They were selling the farm there a little bit with four guys on the rush all night. I wasn't sure if Teemu was going to see me, but he put it in the perfect place to skate right into it and not lose any speed. And the rest was just trying to ma...
I was expecting it ... But he came in … he's been pretty cordial. He knows how to rein guys in and calm guys down. There was the sense of panic, a little bit, between periods. Our leaders stepped up and said the right thing. And I think he got a big response in the third period from everybody.
I don’t think there will be too much of a letdown ... Too much is at stake. We’ve been playing playoff-style hockey for awhile now. We just have to continue to play the way we have been playing.
Playoff points aside and down the stretch aside, every time we play them it’s an absolute battle ... Going into that building is tough. The fans are relentless toward us, so it’s going to be a playoff-style game. I think the tempo is going to be very high.
