If Martin Amis hasn’t exactly mellowed with age a certain degree of tenderness has nevertheless entered his more recent work.
From quite an early age, my role models were sort of Martin Amis - who I now don't have very much time for, but this was the '90s - or P.D. James. I always wanted to be an actual author, to write proper grown-up books.
